A bill that would supersede state bans on same-sex couples adopting children is scheduled to be introduced in Congress today, with Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-Fla., and John Lewis, D-Ga., cosponsoring the measure in the House, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., introducing the Senate version. "This is truly discrimination at its worst: hurtful to the people who are being denied the opportunity to become parents, and harmful to thousands of vulnerable children being denied the opportunity for stable, loving, permanent homes," said Jody Huckaby, executive director of PFLAG.
