The Senate Judiciary Committee met today to begin considering almost 200 immigration-bill amendments tabled by the panel's Republican members. The bill's supporters said GOP skeptics were trying to gut the bill, but panel members said they were simply doing due diligence. "Since we only do comprehensive immigration reform about once every 25 years, or at least successfully so, we have to get it right," said Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.
