Worried about the growing share of biofuels in the fuel market, the oil industry is resorting to "scare tactics" and "bogus E15 studies" to undermine the Renewable Fuel Standard, said representatives of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association and other groups in a briefing for congressional staffers. The oil industry's efforts to maintain its monopoly come at the expense of consumers, said IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw. "Renewable fuels benefit the American consumer by lowering gas prices, creating American jobs and decreasing our dependence on foreign oil," Shaw said.
