Last year, all eighth-graders at Durant Road Middle School in Raleigh, N.C., learned math via a flipped classroom model, principal Drew Sawyer writes in this commentary. He notes that student test scores on end-of-course algebra I exams improved as a result of educators using this model, but the benefits do not stop there. "Walking into flipped classrooms, I see collaboration and higher order thinking happening every day," he writes.
