Buzz Marketing Group in Philadelphia secured some big contracts in 2012, and founder Tina Wells ended up spending as much as eight hours a week managing the firm's human resources processes. To free up her time -- and to counter any perceptions of nepotism at the firm -- Wells outsourced HR responsibilities to a firm called Paychex, which was already handling the company's payroll. "This has given me the time to be the creative executive I want to be, coming up with solutions for my clients," said Wells, who now spends only about one hour a week on HR.
