The rate of hand hygiene compliance at hospitals in Ontario, Canada, improved from 2008 to 2011, but the rate of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections did not decrease over the same time period, according to a study in Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology. Rates of Clostridium difficile declined in 2009, but not in 2010 or 2011, the study said. The study evaluated data from 166 acute-care hospitals from October 2008 through December 2011.
