Staff training was found to increase the frequency of staff offering choices to nursing home residents who required staff assistance. More choices were offered in the morning in areas such as when to get out of bed, when to dress, when to have continence care, where to dine. Increased frequency of offering choices was found to also increase the amount of time nurse aides spent. Although more choices were offered, they were only offered one-third of the time or less.
