BP must turn over correspondence about Gulf of Mexico oil-spill volume estimates to the U.S. government, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sally Shushan ruled. The U.K. oil major argued that such documents, which involved several e-mail messages between former BP Vice President of Exploration David Rainey and company lawyers, were protected by attorney-client privilege. "They contain communications in furtherance of contemplated or ongoing criminal or fraudulent conduct," Shushan said.
