Smartphone users are far more likely to download applications to their devices than tablet owners are, according to research from Kantar Media that finds more than a third of all app downloads are designed for social-networking and entertainment purposes such as listening to music. Charlie Crowe, CEO of Festival of Media, says that while tablets are among the fastest-growing technologies, smartphones remain the most ubiquitous digital communication device, which makes them a more common platform for apps usage.
