The shale natural gas boom in the U.S. is providing an economic advantage for Louisiana's chemicals sector, said Dan Borne, president of the Louisiana Chemical Association. "Five years ago, I would have been up here to tell you the petrochemical industry in Louisiana was on its way out," he said. "Now instead of shipping jobs overseas, companies that went overseas years ago are dismantling plants and shipping them back here," Borne added, citing Methanex's recent move to relocate two plants to the U.S.
