Intensified ablative fractional laser-assisted photodynamic therapy cleared actinic keratoses and warty lesions on the hands of organ-transplant recipients better than blative fractional laser therapy alone in a randomized clinical trial. Ablative fractional laser-assisted photodynamic therapy was painful and caused intense inflammation in 30% of patients, but completely cleared 73% of all actinic keratoses and 37% of all wartlike lesions, compared with 31% and 14% respectively, for ablative fractional laser alone.
