The self-replicating computer virus took a back seat long ago to more stealthy strains of malware that are designed to hide in plain sight, but experts say they are now seeing a minor resurgence of the old-fashioned cyberbugs, including a strain known as Sality, which has infected more than 8 million computers worldwide. Microsoft found that 7.8% of surveyed computers were infected with a virus in the fourth quarter of 2012, compared with a typical infection level of about 5%, with developing nations suffering the largest prevalence.
