Microsoft is said to be in talks with Barnes & Noble and its other co-investors about buying Nook Media's digital assets for $1 billion, according to an Internet media report that says the company would end up with Nook's e-books, e-readers and tablets. In citing company documents, the report also says Nook Media wants to shut down its Android-based tablet division next year and distribute mobile applications via third-party tablets. It was not clear whether those tablets would belong to Microsoft.
