BacterioScan has secured $2.1 million in a funding round aiming for $6 million. The St. Louis startup has developed a benchtop device that hospitals can use to diagnose urinary-tract infections without the need for reagents or sending urine samples to a lab. The device, set to be submitted for 510(k) clearance early next year, can generate results in under three hours.
