A number of startups have popped up that allow small businesses to offer customer loyalty programs that make use of technology such as smartphones and cloud computing, Ellen Lee writes. When developing a loyalty program, it's important to offer interesting rewards, promote the campaign to customers and keep adding new wrinkles to keep them engaged. "Your rewards don't necessarily have to come at a high cost to you, but they should be enticing enough to provide an incentive to customers," Lee writes.
