Following earthquakes that led to school closings in Christchurch, New Zealand, more modern school buildings are replacing more traditional campuses. At the new, modern Clearview School in Rolleston, there is an open-plan layout that allows for more fluidity and collaboration, and students sit on bean bag chairs, ottomans or on the floor. There also are tall desks with whiteboard surfaces. Educators praise the new model, saying that students are more engaged in lessons.
