Chris Kluwe, a punter who was released by the Minnesota Vikings this week, was likely let go in part because he is a high-profile advocate for LGBT equality, according to Minneapolis Star-Tribune columnist Chip Scoggins. Kluwe said he has no regrets about his outspokenness. "[I]f it ends up being something that costs me that position, I think making people aware of an issue that is causing children to commit suicide is more important than kicking a leather ball," Kluwe said. Another prominent LGBT ally, former Baltimore Ravens player Brendon Ayanbadejo, has also been released.
