A Federal Communications Commission requirement that public safety agencies operate radios on narrower bandwidth, combined with expanding residential development, add to dead spot problems faced by 9-1-1 dispatchers in Sandoval County, N.M. Monte Roberts, who runs the Regional Emergency Communications Center, said there are times when officers lose contact with dispatchers. One near-term solution is moving an existing communications tower and putting additional equipment on a private company's cellphone tower.
