The two-day G-8 International Conference on Open Data for Agriculture featured several examples of the way Big Data will be able to help promote more efficient global agriculture. Attendees played a game that simulated actual farm conditions in Africa, explored a database that maps the world's water risks and learned how two nonprofit groups teamed to use geocoded soil samples to revolutionize crop planting in Uganda.
