An Outback Steakhouse mobile campaign in Richmond, Va., used Foursquare to generate customer traffic, winning 678 check-ins. The Laps for Apps campaign in cooperation with NASCAR counted consumers' "laps" from their home to an Outback, with a reward of a free appetizer after the second visit. "If we were to do that nationwide at many restaurants over three weeks, it's millions of dollars in incremental revenue," said Karen Soots, vice president of media services at Bloomin' Brands, adding that a national effort is likely forthcoming.
