Plastic surgeons are supporting proposed bills in New Jersey that would restrict where plastic surgeries may be performed. Under the bill, liposuction, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty and other invasive procedures would have to be performed at a hospital or accredited ambulatory surgery center. Proponents say hospitals and ASCs are safer for patients than doctors' offices, where invasive procedures are more likely to be performed under local anesthesia than general anesthesia.
