The Amazon Appstore for Android has more than doubled the number of applications in a year, reaching more than 100,000. The company has been creating tools to help game developers succeed, including a portal that lets developers test Google Android apps to determine in seconds whether they're compatible with Amazon's Appstore.
The new Rovio Accounts feature will allow players of Angry Birds and other Rovio games to save a game in the cloud and resume play on a different device. The feature is first being made available with the classic Angry Birds game on iOS devices and for the new The Croods game in Poland and Finland, with a gradual rollout of other titles in more markets planned.
Amazon Appstore stats have been included in App Annie's analytics platform, joining iOS and Google Play. The first results reveal a top-10 paid applications list dominated by three Disney titles and composed entirely of games. "One of App Annie's goals, of course, is to show developers where the big opportunities are," John Koetsier writes.
