Amazon says it will make six engagement reports available to Appstore for Android application developers looking for data on performance and revenue. The reports will cover apps on Kindle Fire tablets and other Google Android devices using the latest version of the Amazon Appstore app.
The new Rovio Accounts feature will allow players of Angry Birds and other Rovio games to save a game in the cloud and resume play on a different device. The feature is first being made available with the classic Angry Birds game on iOS devices and for the new The Croods game in Poland and Finland, with a gradual rollout of other titles in more markets planned.
Google Play is outdistancing the Amazon Appstore when it comes to downloads of free applications, according to Distimo, a mobile app analytics firm. It notes that the free version of Fruit Ninja on Google Play has 2.3 million device installs, compared with 250,000 downloads from the Amazon Appstore. Google Play's paid applications are also more popular than the Amazon Appstore's, Distimo found.
