Coffee shops could be influential in deciding whether the Power Matters Alliance or Wireless Power Consortium ends up as the eventual dominant standard for wireless charging, according to PMA backers. They are touting a decision on Wednesday by The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf chains to use PMA-based chargers at their stores following earlier moves toward that standard from Starbucks and McDonald's. "Standards are ultimately set in a coffee shop, not in a conference room," said Daniel Schreiber, president of wireless-charger-maker Powermat and a PMA board member.
