Fewer premature babies who received a daily supplement of 800 international units of vitamin D had insufficient levels of the vitamin compared with the 400 IU group, researchers from India found. Even at the 3-month corrected age, babies in the 400 IU group were more likely to have insufficient vitamin levels than the 800 IU group, according to the study presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies meeting.
