Samsung Electronics has began building a compact mobile DRAM chip that the South Korean company said will more than double the transmission rate of the current DRAM standard using an ultra-high-speed, 4G bit low-power chip with speeds of up to 2.1 gigabits-per-second per pin. The LPDDR3 (double data rate 3) mobile DRAM will enable a mobile device to send 17 gigabytes worth of three HD videos in one second, Samsung said.
