The Securities and Exchange Board of India has asked some local hedge funds to avoid trading currency and commodity derivatives on concerns the transactions will boost foreign-exchange volatility. "It appears that Sebi wants to start on a very cautious note for this category of AIF (Alternative Investment Funds) and see how it unfolds and the degree of systemic risk that this asset class can create," said Siddharth Shah of Khaitan & Co.
