The emergence of "third platform" strategies driven by the proliferation of cloud and mobile technologies is pressuring software providers to meet enterprise demands for solutions that leverage the power of smart devices and continuous connectivity, analysts say. "As we move toward the third platform, most enterprise software will need to have ties to social, cloud, mobility and analytics," said Daniel-Zoe Jimenez of IDC Asia-Pacific. "Social and mobile functionalities are becoming de facto requirements and, increasingly, they will need to integrate with cloud environments as well."
