Patients and physicians agree intellectual stimulation and physical activity may help prevent or delay cognitive decline, but a survey found just 7.8% of people report getting that advice from their health care practitioner and many say they heard about strategies from the media. "Findings suggest a need to examine and assess media messages and to better understand patient-provider communication about cognitive functioning," University of South Carolina researchers wrote in Preventing Chronic Disease.
