More travelers are forgoing shorter leisure trips in favor of international getaways that are longer and more upscale, PhoCusWright's U.S. Consumer Travel Report Fifth Edition has found. The study shows that 30% of leisure travelers took a trip overseas in 2012, compared with 28% in the previous year. "This bodes well for travel agents, because it shows that people are concentrating their funds on the kind of complex trips that are more likely to require the services of an agent," said Marcello Gasdia, an analyst at PhoCusWright.
