Tiny amounts of nicotine in peppers could lower the risk of Parkinson's disease. Tobacco and peppers belong to the Solanaceae plant family, and researchers at the University of Washington in Seattle found that people who eat peppers five to six times a week lowered their risk of Parkinson's by half compared with those who ate them less than once a week. The effects, however, were "clearer in people who had never used tobacco regularly," said study researcher Susan Searles Nielsen.
