Taiwan may not attain 3% growth this year, says Ray Chou, a research fellow with the Institute of Economics of Academia Sinica. A disappointing growth rate of just 1.54% in the first quarter is a telling indicator, Chou said, with exports up just 4.84% from a year before, well below the forecast gain of 6.2%. The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics is scheduled to release its latest forecast Friday.
