Technology can help students with vision and hearing impairments access lessons, according to experts with the University of Kentucky's Deaf-Blind project, which offers assistance to children from birth to age 21. For instance, a 13-year-old student with profound vision and hearing loss is making progress toward performing on grade level since beginning to use an iPad equipped with a Braille reader, read-aloud capabilities and other programs aimed at improving access.
