Project-based learning is being used in core subjects throughout the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District in Texas. Eighth-graders at one middle school recently worked in teams to design sports facilities. Students drafted plans, obtained bids for construction and materials, and created presentations for district leaders and parents. "I've enjoyed teaching more, and it's been an adventure," teacher Elizabeth Pauley said. "I can't get over the fact that, at the end of the year, I still have 100 percent student engagement."
