This year's early Easter took a bigger-than-expected toll on like-for-like sales in the UK last month, according to the British Retail Consortium, but sales in the three-month period ending April 30 were up compared to last year. "Taking away the Easter distortion, this was actually a better month than March, especially for non-food sales," said Director General Helen Dickinson.
