The Department of Agriculture said it would need more time to review Dow AgroSciences' herbicide-resistant Enlist corn and Monsanto's dicamba-tolerant soybeans and cotton. The decision sets a "bad precedent for future consideration of safe and beneficial genetically engineered plant products," said BIO Executive Vice President Cathleen Enright said. "The U.S. regulatory system for biotech products remains unnecessarily burdensome and unpredictable, and American farmers are paying the price," Enright said.
