The top technology executive at Verizon Communications laid out on Tuesday the carrier's four "foundational platforms" for future services. At a vendor conference, Tony Melone listed the platforms as FiOS, Terremark-branded data centers, global IP and 4G Long-Term Evolution wireless networks. He also said Verizon Wireless would rely on its marketing department for devising a timetable for rolling out its voice-over LTE, or VoLTE, network this year or in 2014.
