The Federal Trade Commission has voted to keep July 1 as the launch date for updates to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, snubbing industry demands for more time to figure out ways to comply with the rule. The Interactive Advertising Bureau says that the decision would hurt businesses and Web users. "For many small businesses, this will be too much to bear, and the few quality children's sites and services that exist today will suffer as a result," the group said in a statement.
