Rex Rowley, an urban geography professor at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, conducted more than 100 interviews for his book, which examines the divide between locals and tourists in Las Vegas. Many residents try to disassociate themselves from the area's reputation as "Sin City," but the truth is that there is a fascinating interplay between the two aspects of the city, said Rowley, whose book is called "Everyday Las Vegas: Local Life in a Tourist Town."
