It usually doesn't make sense for innovators to waste time trying to prevent others from using their ideas, writes Mike Brown. It's better instead to make your ideas distinctive enough that people will recognize them as yours even when they're borrowed and repurposed. "People who spend their time chasing down others to protect their ideas will spend a lot less time on generating ideas and a disproportionate amount of time on idea protection," Brown warns.
