Conventional wisdom says that presidents always get pounded in their second midterm elections, but that's a conclusion drawn from a tiny sample, writes Elspeth Reeve. A more nuanced conclusion might be that presidents tend to get hammered in either their first or second midterms, but not in both -- and since the Dems already got wiped out once, they'll probably do fine in 2014.
