Industry observers are speculating that the potential for snack business growth in emerging markets is so large that Kraft spinoff Mondelez International and PepsiCo might join forces to scale up and take advantage. Such a deal would make sense, they say, because there isn't much crossover between the two snack divisions, and "to the extent that a combination could lead to accelerated growth and/or enhanced scale, it could be highly beneficial to both [companies]," according to a Bernstein Research report.
