Three plant biotechnology pioneers have won this year's World Food Prize. The $250,000 prize will be shared by Monsanto Chief Technology Officer Robert Fraley, Syngenta founder Mary-Dell Chilton and Marc Van Montagu, founder and chairman of the Institute of Plant Biotechnology Outreach at Ghent University in Belgium. "These three scientists are being recognized for their independent, individual breakthrough achievements in founding, developing and applying modern agricultural biotechnology," World Food Prize Foundation President Kenneth Quinn said.
