An AAFP letter to Senate leaders urged lawmakers not to limit access to health care, especially primary and catastrophic care, in immigration legislation. The Academy is concerned immigrants could be denied health insurance subsidies contained in the Affordable Care Act. The letter from AAFP Board Chair Glen Stream, M.D., also said immigration legislation should include provisions to address U.S. physician workforce issues.
