Physicians need a way to review information about them before drug and device companies report it to the National Physician Payment Transparency Program, the AAFP said in a letter to the CMS. The Physician Payments Sunshine Act requires drug and device manufacturers and other groups to report payments or gifts to physicians of $10 or more. AAFP Board Chair Glen Stream, M.D., said the Academy is concerned that CMS will collect physician data before physicians have had an opportunity to review and correct it.
