BlackBerry, led by new Chief Legal Officer Steve Zipperstein, has spent the past year aggressively fighting what it considers erroneous analyst reports and patent trolls and working to solve privacy disputes. Among Zipperstein's battles is one against a financial-services firm that issued a report in April saying that the BlackBerry Z10 had suffered unusually high return rates. BlackBerry's complaints before U.S. and Canadian regulatory authorities are still pending, the company said.
