Under the Roots of Empathy programme, which has been in place for 10 months, babies and their mothers have visited five schools in Canada. Studies have shown that schools with the programme in place report less aggression and bullying among students. "The idea is for the children to develop a connection with the baby. ... The baby is used as a lever to learn about empathy, attachment, parenting skills," said Brandy Bayda, a facilitator for the programme.
