Insurance companies are responding to consumers' concerns about providing for retirement with a variety of annuity features such as guaranteed lifetime withdrawal benefits, legacy protection and chronic-care riders, writes Mark Fitzgerald of Saybrus. The changing emphasis from guaranteed accumulation to guaranteed protection is also a boon for agents, who now have more options for meeting their clients' goals, Fitzgerald writes.
