Conflicts are growing over investment-offering changes as companies are rapidly making changes regarding variable annuities, Michael Kitces writes. The companies' moves to reduce their exposure to the annuities put "a new series of burdens and risks on the shoulders of financial planners, including those who have sold annuities in the past and those who have not," and makes due diligence crucial for variable-annuity strategies, Kitces writes.
