Children of mothers with depressive symptoms were more at risk for emotional problems compared with peers without depressed mothers, but entering day care before 17 months lowered the risk by about 79%, Canadian researchers said. Group day care also was associated with a 60% lower risk of having emotional issues than being cared for by a relative or babysitter, according to the study in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.
