A growing number of Americans say they plan to work past traditional retirement age, but unexpected disabilities can wreck that plan, and most disability insurance policies won't provide coverage past retirement age. Older workers who need to protect their savings in the case of a disability should consider delaying Social Security benefits, buying long-term-care insurance and, in a crisis, tapping home equity, experts say.
